Phenomenological Models of the Quark-Gluon Plasma Equation of State
Two phenomenological models describing an SU(N) quark-gluon plasma are presented. The first is obtained from high temperature expansions of the free energy of a massive gluon, while the second is derived by demanding color neutrality over a certain length scale. Each model has a single free parameter, exhibits behavior similar to lattice simulations over the range Td − 5Td, and has the correct ...
متن کاملPhenomenological Aspects of No-Scale Inflation Models
We discuss phenomenological aspects of no-scale supergravity inflationary models motivated by compactified string models, in which the inflaton may be identified either as a Kähler modulus or an untwisted matter field, focusing on models that make predictions for the scalar spectral index ns and the tensor-to-scalar ratio r that are similar to the Starobinsky model. We discuss possible patterns...
متن کاملThe Dynamic Cosmological Term Λ: Some Aspects of Phenomenological Models
Choosing a phenomenological model of Λ, viz. Λ ∼ Ḣ, it has been shown that this model of Λ is equivalent to other three types of Λ, Λ ∼ (ȧ/a)2, Λ ∼ ä/a and Λ ∼ ρ. Through an indirect approach, it has also been possible to put a limit on the deceleration parameter q. It has been shown that if q becomes less than −1, then this model can predict about the presence of phantom energy.
متن کاملExotic Hadrons in the Constituent Quark Model
Exotic hadrons are important because their existence or absence can provide important clues to understanding how QCD makes hadrons from quarks and gluons. The first experimentally confirmed exotic will be the first hadron containing both qq and q̄q pairs and the first hadron containing color sextet and color octet pairs. Theoretical models are not very useful because there is no accepted model f...
متن کاملTHE ROLE OF QUARK POLARIZATION IN HEAVY QUARK FRAGMENTATION
We calculate the exact fragmentation functions for c and b quark fragmentation taking into account the spin orientation of the initial heavy quark in the form of analytical and rather simple expressions. Our calculations show that spin orientation may have an important effect on the fragmentation spectrum. This effect is more striking in the cases of c ?D, D*; c? ? , ? , and ?B , B *.
